The dictionary may tell you granite is “a very hard igneous rock formed essentially of quartz,” but your average homeowner may describe granite as “the most desirable counter material on the market.” Let’s look at the basic benefits of granite as a building material:

Heat resistant, so even the hottest pans won’t discolor it.
Available in more than 250 natural colors. View these links or call for a list of our full selection. (Bedrock, Daltile, Midwest Tile and IGM.)
Extremely scratch resistant.
Dark granite is naturally stain resistant, while lighter-colored granite is sealed to prevent staining.
Light-colored granite must be sealed annually for the first three years, after which it retains its seal for a lifetime of service.
Available in three sizes: 2 cm, 3 cm and thin slab.

2 cm and 3 cm
Granite is very heavy. Most varieties are available in both 2-cm (3/4 in.) and 3-cm (1-1/4 in.) thicknesses with a tolerance of +/– 3 mm. Our most popular thickness is 3 cm. We recommend using 3 cm for all kitchen countertop applications and 2 cm or 3 cm for bathroom vanities.

THIN SLAB
Thin slab is a lightweight stone veneer that offers the beauty of real stone in an easier and less expensive installation. We excel in this newer technology and will be happy to discuss its pros and cons with you.
